Summary:
In order to accomplish the mission of the Church while planning for the future, a needs assessment was conducted at First United Methodist Church of Jupiter-Tequesta. Requirements for facilities, programs and activities have been identified by church members, staff and activity leaders. It became necessary to set priorities to begin accomplishing objectives immediately in a logical order. The goal is to accomplish the thirteen objectives of Phase 1 in one year.
The Strategic Plan, Phase I
1. To clarify the direction of the church.
2. To improve attendance, foster growth and increase the number of new visitors.
3. To maintain and refurbish the church throughout.
4. To accomplish a major upgrade to the landscaping.
5. To refine worship including the schedule, the setting, increase congregational singing and provide worship education.
6. To improve volunteerism and participation in church activities, especially by using people's talents.
7. To improve communications and announcements throughout the church between staff, volunteers, the congregation and/or the outside community.
8. To identify a plan to relocate the nursery to an area designed for their use.
9. To utilize fiscal management ideas to reduce overhead.
10. To identify a plan to increase the amount of classroom space and aggregate these rooms with a mix of dedicated and multi-use space.
11. To identify a plan to redesign the administration building incorporating privacy and efficiancy.
12. To improve parking, lighting, and accesibility.
13. To place focus and emphasis upon small groups.
The Strategic Plan, Phase II
1. To update and succinctly reclarify the direction fo the church.
2. To improve attendance of current congregants as well as people new to the church.
3. To implement fiscal responsibility as evidenced by an annual balanced budget, accountability, comprehendible reporting, and a debt repayment schedule.
4. To implement the Architects Plan which includes:
implementing the phases in a prioritized order
maintenance and refurbishment
cleanliness and neatness in all church areas at all times
major upgrade to landscaping
parking, lighting, accessibility and signage
5. To increase volunteerism and participation in church activities.
6. To continue emphasis upon church communications with staff, volunteers, the congregation, and the outside community.
7. To continue to refine worship including the schedule, congregational singing and worship education.
8. Continue to nurture small groups, a great strength of the church.
9. To get spiritual lives in order and to live our mission.
